May 23 & Today - Colours of the Rainbow, Almost ;p

Painting is another stage that brings out the character of the flat. In a way, it also represents our dreams : )

Wasn't there to witness the progress. Dearie had the opportunity to see the painters in action. After viewing today, I must say that they really have done a good job and command my respect! A big thank you to the painters :D All the photos are taken on May 23, hence can still see some touch ups required. Paints are from Nippon.

Above Main Door - did you know that the gas pipe is hidden under the boxing?

Living Room - in "Light Cocoa" colour and still in the works. Look at the painter hard @ work! This is where the TV console will be placed. We really like this colour :D

Divider & Living Room - in "Beige" colour

Study/Entertainment Room - this side is in "Spring" colour. Doesn't it look like Shrek? ;p Looks really bright and striking here. We were not really used to it initially. After looking at it more, it looks good :) Recommended by Frankie!

Bedroom 3 - in "Airy White" colour, though it looks whitish here, it is similar to baby blue

May 19 - Flooring Almost Done!

On Saturday, when we went up to our flat, was happy to see that the flooring for the living room, kitchen, corridor and household shelter was completed with grouting and skirting, though all are hidden under the protective cardboard. With the floor done up, it make the place appear bigger especially the living room. The wow factor ;p Now, it's left with the acid wash to complete the job. Flooring for the bedrooms will be done in a subsequent phase.

May 14 - Story of Flat's Floor Tiling In The Works!

This is a stage which is quite definitive of the renovations - floor tiling for the flat! It usually makes up a substantial amount of the works and can transform the look of the flat dramatically from uneven surfaces to smooth floors.

In the process of it, we also discussed with Frankie regarding increasing the washing machine base. Initial dimensions planned was 600mm by 600mm. It looked really tiny. And the tilers, Ah San and his co-worker advised us on having it made slightly bigger. We decided to go for it, as it will be a safer bet than having to be compromised in terms of getting a washing machine smaller than what we need. Actually, at this stage, we have not done any research on washing machines yet ;p Anyway, final numbers are 700 by 700.

May 11 - Black Galaxy Part 2

Yes, black galaxy tiles up for our Master Toilet too! Hmm, somehow the wall tiles for this toilet fit in better perhaps due to the more neutral colour : )

May 9 - Black Galaxy Part 1....

Black galaxy is the look of our home toilet tiles - it has some sparks contrasting against the black. From the moment we set our eyes on it in Earnest's office, we liked it!

Tiling for common toilet was completed. It looks not as appealing from the photos with dust and dirt. Looking forward to how it looks after the acid wash! Tiling works for our entire flat will be slightly later than scheduled, but still in time overall as Frankie had put in some buffer. Here are some photos, including the completed gas piping and water piping for the kitchen:

Cornices Done, But Aircon Piping Needs Rework Again....

No renovation works ongoing today, but we went up to flat to take a peek! Cornices for Bedroom 2 are already completed and we are very happy with the outcome. Even dearie's mum and uncle commented that it was a job well done : )

Dearie's uncle who used to be a contractor suggested that the piping for aircon should be drained towards the shower area of the common toilet. We decided to adopt his suggestion and have asked the aircon salesman to make the necessary arrangements on May 14 when the blowers will be installed.

Cornices in Bedroom 2 - next 4 photos show various views of it. We have opted for simple cornices as recommended by Frankie, so as to conceal the speakers wiring.

May 5 - Finalizing Dining Table

The search for a suitable table began on April 28 when we went to Furniture Mall.

We went to shops like La Cafa, Lorenzo, Furniture Club and Mondi amongst many others. The shortlisted ones were a black glass top table from Mondi and a brown one with clear glass top from Lorenzo.

We nearly bought the Mondi one on May 1, as it was really a lovely table which sets off the reflections from dining light very nicely. However, maintenance on keeping it scratch proof will be an issue in the future.

So, we asked Frankie on his opinion again on the Lorenzo table. It will be a fail-safe choice, though it will not really stand out from other tables. As it was alright with us, we decided to trot back to Lorenzo to buy it. This table has drawers beneath it as well. The chairs will be different from the ones shown in the photo below, as we aimed to get something taller of about 1m tall.

May 5 - Day 4 of Renovation

Woo hoo, it's the weekend! We made a trip down in the morning to check progress of renovation. The sun was bright (overtly?) and cheery. It reflected our feelings as we stepped into our place and saw all that was going on.

Works on false ceiling and L Box had begun yesterday. We were pleasantly surprised to see the divider up as well with its niches done already. Though still in its raw form, it was nice to see it up already!

Completed works are:
- Gas pipe
- Rectification for aircon trunking in Master Bedroom (earlier it was extremely near the rear window)

"Visitor" to our flat resting on doorbell, near Household Shelter

Foyer - Divider made of gypsum board

Living Room - Part of L Box and pelmet
